Eligibility

In order to submit a composition, you must be a member of WFMC. Please read the following carefully so you understand what membership works best for you.

The Wyoming Federation of Music Clubs is located in the Western Region of the National Federation of Music Clubs. 

WFMC membership is open to those who reside in Wyoming and Colorado.

There are various options for students to become eligible and enter the composition contest:

1. If you are a teacher who currently holds both a WFMC Senior and Junior Club membership, then your students must complete the application below, submit a composition, and pay the composition entry fee.

2. If you are a teacher who is not currently a member and lives in Colorado or Wyoming, then we invite you to sign up for WFMC Senior Club and Junior club memberships. Each of your student composers must complete the application below, submit a composition, and pay the composition entry fee.

3. If you are a student whose teacher is not a member of the WFMC at this time, then you may join as an Individual Student member. Then you must complete the application below, submit a composition and pay the composition entry fee.

Choose this membership IF your teacher is NOT a member of WFMC.

• Keyboard

• Voice

• Other instruments

• Combinations of instruments

composition Levels

A student’s age as of March 1, 2024 determines the level or classification for the entrance.

• Classification I Ages 9 and under

• Classification II Ages 10—12

• Classification III Ages 13—15

• Classification IV Ages 16—18

Upon entry, you are eligible to win awards at three levels

• State

• Regional

• National

To Enter your Composition

1. Read and comply with the eligibility requirements.

2. Join WFMC and pay membership fees.

3. Submit your entry fee.

4. Complete the application form and submit it.

5. Submit your composition as a PDF.

6. Submit an MP3 audio recording of your composition.

2026 Composition Adjudicator

Joseph Harkins brings an eclectic mix of classical, jazz, blues, and contemporary styles to his teaching and performing. His teaching philosophy is based in the firm belief that there is pianistic and expressive musical ability in everyone. Joe lives and teaches in Fort Collins, CO.
