WHAT: Premier of WFMC commissioned piece by Melody Bober and performances of Melody Bober Music

WHEN: Saturday, August 19, 2023 (see below for times)

WHERE: Graner Music, Colorado Springs; St. Phillips Church, Littleton

WHO: All WFMC members

FEES: $15 per Federation student plus $15 per Federation teacher OR

$25 per non-Federation student plus $25 per non-Federation teacher

Greetings Fellow Wyoming Federation Teachers!!

I am EXCITED to give you the information for the "Celebrate the Music of Melody Bober" day on Saturday August 19, 2023! This is an AMAZING opportunity for students to play a piece, whether piano solo, duet, trio or quartet, written by Melody and get comments from her in person!! 

We are also VERY EXCITED to have commissioned a piece that Melody has written for Wyoming Federation of Music Clubs. The title is "Mountain Majesty" a late intermediate/advanced piece available at $4.99 on the Kjos website. This is their description of the piece ,"This grand piano solo was commissioned by the Wyoming Federation of Music Clubs. It is descriptive not only of the Rocky Mountains but also a tribute to majestic mountains everywhere ." We would encourage you to have students who YOU feel are qualified to premiere the piece at each of the recitals.  There are NO auditions!! We would just like to know if you are having a student play this magnificent piece!!! It does not matter if there are two or more playing this piece in the same recital.  I checked with Melody and she would LOVE to hear the piece played by different performers!!!

There will be 5 different recitals. We decided to do the first recital at Graners Music store in Colorado Springs. This is because two pianos will be available there for quartets and duos. Also, a more convenient location for our members in Colorado Springs. The other 4 recitals will be at St. Phillips in Littleton. At St. Phillips there will probably be only 15 students in each recital so there is time for Melody's comments at the end for photos and signing music. 

Here is the schedule for the day!

9:00-10:30 Recital at Graner Music in Colorado Springs

10:45- 12:00 Travel to St. Phillips in Littleton

12:00-1:00 Lunch with a question and answer opportunity with Melody. All teachers are invited to join!!

1:00-1:45 Recital #1 

2:00-2:45 Recital #2

3:00-3:45 Recital #3

4:00-4:45 Recital #4 opportunity for live online performances only in this recital.

We figure there is enough room for 80 performers in all 5 recitals. The cost for Federation teachers for this event is $15.00 for both teacher and student performers.

For non Federation teachers the fee will be $25.00 for both teacher and student performers. We really need to have a commitment from you Federation teachers on how many students you would like to put into the recitals and which one they would prefer.You do NOT need to let me know the student or what piece they are playing! Just the number of spots. The deadline to let me know is May 15th.  After this date we will open this event up to CSMTA groups. Several have expressed an interest in joining us that day!! But this event is open only to Federation teachers first!  But you HAVE to commit by May 15th. You need to email me at dsturningbull@ aol. with the number of spots you would like, which recital you would like, and if you are joining us for lunch!!! Teachers or students who are not performing  may also come to listen to any of the recitals.
